Time waits for no one

As I sit on the large terrace relaxing and reading a book, the sea calls to me. I dismiss it and continue reading, but I feel restless. Just then Mulan wakes up and wants to go out. I follow her.

As I walk along the rocky coastline it's as if everything moves in slow motion. It's peaceful here. I wish for time to stand still so that I may enjoy this moment a bit longer. But time waits for no one. This moment — now — will never come again.

Mulan runs ahead of me, happily darting in and out of the bushes in search of dassies, small animals native to South Africa that live among the rock outcrops. My restlessness now forgotten, I stop to watch Mulan enjoying herself. I enjoy watching her. It’s moments like these that make life precious.
